We all know many individuals that go above and beyond in contributing to the betterment our sport and our AA Ringette program. It’s an honour for AA Ringette Calgary to present two annual awards to recognize the hard work, dedication, and energy that these individuals bring to our ringette community. Please fill out and submit nomination form(s) to awards@aaringettecalgary.ca.
Awards for the 2025-2026 season submissions are due by March 28, 2026.
This award is given to a member of the AA Ringette Calgary community who has exemplified outstanding service and dedication to our program and the sport of ringette.
Jenna was a positive spirit, and passionate about ringette—sharing her love of the game by helping to coach younger players as an Assistant Coach with AA Ringette Calgary. A tribute to Jenna is available on the Ringette Calgary history site 2016-2017 season.
Introduced in the 2017/2018 season, this award recognizes the inspired contribution of current or former AA Ringette players who give back to the sport through positive coaching, mentorship, and enthusiasm. The Sauer Family and AA Ringette Calgary are proud to present this award in Jenna’s honour.
Spirit in Coaching Award Nomination Form
We are proud to introduce the first annual Kayla Blackwell Passion for Ringette Award in March of 2026. This distinguished award will be awarded to a player that carries the same passion that Kayla displayed throughout her ringette career. Kayla showed up to every practice and game, gave fist-bumps to her coaches after practices, lead by example on and off the ice, and maintained a positive attitude during all moments of games. She proudly wore her ringette swag every chance she could, and prioritized ringette over all else. The winner of this award should show that ringette is a defining, meaningful part of their life. This player might not be the highest goal scorer, the fastest skater or have the hardest shot, however, she should have the biggest heart for the sport, the players and the support staff. That's passion for ringette.
We ask each AA team to nominate one player and submit that nomination for review. Please email your team nomination with an explanation as to why this player is deserving of the Kayla Blackwell Passion for Ringette Award to awards@aacalgaryringette.ca.

This award, first given out at our Ring It On friendship tournament in Sept 2018, was created in memory of Matt Loh. Out of love for his daughter and ringette, he dedicated himself to creating and organizing our annual Ring It On exhibition tournament on behalf of our AA Ringette Calgary program, to bring teams together in friendship at the beginning of the season. Matt was a dedicated volunteer of AA Ringette Calgary and the entire ringette community in our city. A tribute to Matt is available on the Ringette Calgary history site 2017-2018 season.
The award continues to be given annually at our Ring It On friendship tournament to the team in each division that best displays exemplary sportsmanship overall, through actions both on and off the ice, having demonstrated fairness, respect, honesty, unselfishness, and responsibility as voted by the coaches. The purpose of the award is to promote integrity and sportsmanship in the game of ringette.
Please read here for more information on Matt’s contributions to our AA program, and how teams are granted this award.
